COLLABORATIVE MUSIC-MAKING WEBSITE INDABAMUSIC.COM IS OFFERING MUSICIANS THE CHANCE TO RECORD WITH CELLIST YO-YO MA.

The competition, entitled Celebrate and Collaborate, coincides with the recent release of Ma's album Songs of Joy and Peace, which features the likes of James Taylor, Alison Krauss and Renée Fleming.

Until 5 January 2009, visitors to the site can download and make creative variations to the melody of one of the album's tracks, Dona Nobis Pacem (Give Us Peace). All entries will be voted for by the IndabaMusic community, with Ma selecting the overall winner.

The lucky musician will then get to record with the Chinese-American cellist and the resulting music will be added to IndabaMusic and Ma's own website.

IndabaMusic offers a browser-based mixing and editing console to encourage its members - from amateurs to Grammy Award-winning artists - to work together. It also runs regular remixing competitions.
